Pittsburgh Penguins Radio Network Internship - Fall 2018

For the Fall 2018 semester, I worked with the Penguins Radio Network as an intern. I rotated between working at the PPG Paints Arena for some home games and at the iHeart Radio Station in Greentree for other home games and away games. I worked on the Facebook and Twitter accounts during the games and shows when I was in the studio. The in-studio intern would archive the footage from each period and upload and post a live-to-tape podcast of the post-game show. When you worked in the arena, you had to set up the broadcasting spots for the pregame and post-game show and record post-game interviews with players and the head coach press conference. We wrote scripts for the game recap played on affiliate stations of the Penguins Radio Network.

90.5 WESA FM News Internship - Fall 2017

In Fall 2017, I interned with 90.5 WESA, Pittsburgh's NPR Station. I went on location to cover events for the station live-tweeting, recording press conferences, and making 30-second reports for broadcast. I wrote five stories and uploaded them on WESA's website. I wrote pieces on a semi-professional basketball team in Pittsburgh, the health insurance open enrollment, a Beaver County opioid suit, a man searching for the lost history of Pittsburgh boxing, and how Pittsburgh avoids flooding similar to Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
